THE WRECKAGE

The uncontrollable fire rages for several hours, by morning there is nothing but glowing embers and smouldering ash. With each moment the thickened smoke is settling exposing the extent of the devastation. A place that was once so full of life is a broken shell, scattered pieces, of undistinguishable chaos.

This is the wreckage

This collection focuses on creating the idea of fire and its destruction. The garments are symbols of ‘The wreckage’ which happens after a fire. The clothes document that pivotal point just after a fire when there's a strange peacefulness. The smoke clears the dust settles revealing the ashes of what used to be.

Emily James completed a H.N.D in fibre art and textiles in 2005 and went on to study fashion design at the University for Creative Arts in Rochester where she graduated with a BA honours in fashion design in 2009.

Emily James merges design and textile manipulation in order to create unique and innovative one off garments. The Combination of luxurious fabrics alongside exquisitely designed clothes offers an innovative and modern twist on fashion that is always wearable yet completely unique.
