SINEAD DOYLE

After several years working throughout Europe, Irish Fashion Designer Sinéad Doyle returned home in 2008 to launch her own luxury daywear label.

The Dublin based designer studied fashion at Limerick School of Art and Design, graduating in 2004. During her time here, she won many awards including the national RTE/Taispeantas prize for creative design with commercial potential at the Young Designer of the Year awards 2003 and the Shannon Development bursary for further study in 2004.

Before graduating Sinead worked with London designers Preen, Michelle Lowe-Holder and menswear designer Siv Stoldal. The latter led to Sinead's specialisation in menswear during her final year and a long lasting obsession with tailoring, finish and detail.

After working for a Dublin design company for a few months, Sinead returned to London and
undertook an MA in Fashion Design and Technology at London College of Fashion where she graduated in January 2006. She used this time to further her knowledge in specialist areas such as digital print, tailoring and creative pattern cutting. The final collection was featured on the BBC1, six o'clock news and was later exhibited in the Urbis Gallery in Manchester when Sinead was selected as one of the top fashion designers under 25 in the UK by Noisefestival.

Over the last three years Sinead had exhibited widely, worked as a freelance womenswear pattern cutter and designed for successful childrenswear label The Little Nut Tree.

In August 2007 Sinead decided to focus solely on womenswear again. After designing London Apparel's S/S 2008 womenswear collection, she travelled to Italy where she spent four months working at Atelier Nicolao, a Venetian costume and couture house. Here (despite the language barrier!) she learned couture finishing, historical bodice making and corsetry techniques.

Now at her studio in Dublin, Sinead is combining her knowledge of tailoring, corsetry and cutting to create contemporary structured womenswear pieces. She also keeps busy tutoring in Image and Fashion Styling at Limperts Academy.

S/S 2009 was Sinéad's first collection and launched at Dublin Fashion Week August 2008. Her Autumn Winter 2009 collection will be showing at the Motorola Dublin Fashion Week Collective Show on April 1st 2009.
